A graceful collision of soaring, ethereal vocals and lushly atmospheric, infectiously melodic acoustic and electronic sounds.
The seeds of this collaboration were sown as far back as 1985 in Adelaide, South Australia, when Cartwright and Spellicy began working on 4-track instrumental demos, partly as an escape from the stifling atmosphere of the high school where they met. Several of the songs from this embryonic period survived to provide the basis for tracks on this album.

In 1995, Spellicy relocated to Melbourne as guitarist with The Dumb Earth and The Hired Guns. Cartwright followed in 2004, to collaborate and record with musicians such as David Bridie. It wasn't until 2005, however, when Spellicy attended a performance by Melbourne band Heligoland, that this collaboration finally bore fruit. Singer Karen Vogt's rich, haunting, ethereal style was a revelation, providing a long sought-after missing element and an immediate shot in the arm for the project.

Within a few months, the trio were rehearsing, writing and building on existing ideas. It was decided that the project would be studio-based rather than a live performing concern; songs were developed through a mixture of improvisation and sophisticated demo recordings.

The influences on display in Kurosawa's music are as diverse as the individuals involved in its creation, but are blended and filtered into something entirely unique; you can hear distant echoes of 4AD artists like This Mortal Coil and The Cocteau Twins, the epic melancholy of latter day Talk Talk, the stylish noir of Portishead, the organic electronica of David Sylvian, the acoustic, folkish beauty of HEM and even the dark, dramatic pulse of Massive Attack.

The resulting album, "Your Star Has Fallen Over", was completed in 2007, recorded and produced by Kurosawa with the help of James Dean and Bek Varcoe, mastered by Simon Polinski and featuring musical guests such as Toby Lang (The Audreys), Piet Collins (The Sand Pebbles), Biddy Connor and Graham Cameron (Machine Translations).
